Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions our office hears most often. If your question is not answered here, please call 510-451-6950 and we will be glad to help.

Consultation and pricing

How much does a procedure cost?

Every treatment is tailored to the individual. After a thoughtful consultation, we will provide a personalized plan and pricing aligned with your goals. Minor procedures, including mole removal and laser treatments, are performed in Dr. Chin’s office. Other surgical procedures, such as rhinoplasty, otoplasty and liposuction, are performed at a surgical center, which charges its own facility and anesthesia fees. Our office will provide those fees for your procedure before anything is scheduled.

Is there a consultation fee?

Yes, there is a consultation fee of $100. This fee will be applied toward your procedure if you choose to proceed.

Do you offer financing or payment plans?

Yes, we offer flexible financing options to make procedures more accessible.

Do you offer virtual consultations?

Yes, we offer virtual Zoom consultations for non-surgical procedures (Botox, lasers, injections).

Insurance and coverage

Which insurance plans do you accept?

Our office accepts the following plans:

  • Medicare
  • Anthem Blue Cross / Blue Shield
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Aetna

If your insurance plan is not listed, please feel free to contact our office. We are happy to verify your insurance coverage and answer any questions you may have.

Will my insurance cover my procedure?

Insurance covers treatment that is medically necessary. Cosmetic and elective treatments, including mole removal performed for appearance rather than for a medical reason, are paid out of pocket. Dr. Chin will determine which applies to you at your consultation, before anything is scheduled.

Do you take workers’ compensation and lien cases?

Yes. We accept workers’ compensation patients and are familiar with the reporting a claim requires. When an attorney is handling an accident claim, treatment can proceed on a lien while the case settles. Both are arranged by phone or through the request form rather than the online scheduler.

Procedures and results

What is Dr. Chin’s approach to aesthetic results?

Dr. Chin focuses on refined, natural-looking outcomes that enhance your features without looking overdone.

What types of patients does Dr. Chin see?

Dr. Chin treats a wide range of patients, from those seeking subtle enhancements to more comprehensive transformations. He also sees workers’ compensation, personal injury, insured, and self-pay patients.

Will there be visible scars?

Scars are carefully minimized and placed discreetly whenever possible. Dr. Chin also uses a specialized suture technique to help minimize scarring.
